Program to empower the Samurdhi Beneficiaries in 2018
There are 02 Samurdhi Bank societies in the Okewela Divisional Secretariat. There are about 2437 families who receive Samurdhi benefits here. 39 eminent will be empowered Accordingly" the allocation for the Okewela Divisional Secretariat is Rs.1715000.00. Rs.450000.00 for Industrial Development Rs. 9650000.00 for Agriculture Programs and Rs.35000.00 for Enterprise Training.
The following projects are planned to be implemented according to the Industrial Development and Marketing Development Program according to the social environment and the economic envirment. Samurdhi beneficiaries 05 families are to be provied with marketing programs. Sales of soft drinks, milk trading, wade and short eats, selling fruit and food items and plastic ornamental items.
Apart from this , there is a atong focus on SMEs and industrialists. Under this project, the JUKI machine for the garment industry has been provide more than 39 pieces of fridges, weighing scales and other intrumentation suppliies for the house sales. The joint venture of SMEs andes Women Enterpreneurs has also planned to implement a training workshop on Innovation and Value Added Products with Southern Province Small Business Unit and Vocational Training Institutions.
